When the shop had to be boarded up during the unrest of 2020, I got tired of looking at the plywood boards, so I came up with a design and had my good friend Rich Alapack come spread his message. We All Live Here is a good reminder that we share this city and this planet, so lets be good to each other.

The Monteverde team, led by head chef, Sarah Grueneberg, competed in the annual Cochon555 event, in which five Chicago chefs face off to be crowned Prince or Princess of Porc. Using a whole pig (a mangalitsa, to be exact), the MV crew whipped up 6 courses, using Chicago neighborhoods as influence. I then designed a menu for each dish, incorporating the pig with the neighborhood theme. Team MV and Chef Sarah were victorious at Cochon555, and moved on to the National Cochon event in Aspen.
